Author Interview with Matt Ortile
On his essay collection, The Groom Will Keep His Name
This month, I had the pleasure of speaking with Matt Ortile about his essay collection, The Groom Will Keep His Name: And Other Vows I've Made About Race, Resistance, and Romance.
Our conversation was both thought-provoking and joyful - just as his book was. Among other things, we spoke about the idea that we need to be “fixed,” how to build community online and offline, coming out to your parents, sex as pleasure, and the importance of supporting artists you love.
Below is a truncated version of the transcript, but I think you’ll enjoy listening to Matt’s energy on the audio - it was a fun one!
